Questions

Hygiene FAQs.

Do I need to see a dentist first?

No. Since 2013 patients in the UK can see a hygienist directly. If Kerry spots anything that needs a dentist, she will explain and help you book.

Does a hygiene appointment hurt?

Most people find it comfortable. If your teeth are sensitive, tell us and we can use numbing gel and take breaks whenever you like.

Is hygiene available on the NHS?

A scale and polish is included in an NHS Band 1 check-up when your dentist decides it is clinically needed. A private hygiene visit gives you a longer, more thorough appointment with our hygienist, at a time that suits you.

How often should I come?

For most people every 6 months works well. If you have gum disease, braces or a lot of staining, we may suggest every 3 to 4 months.

Fresh, clean and ready to smile.
